Why should I come in for counseling?
You may be struggling with recent changes, decisions, or stressors in your life. You may have health issues that are getting in the way, or you may be struggling with difficult relationships in your life. You may have recently experienced the loss of a loved one. You may be feeling anxious, down, or have trouble sleeping. You may be struggling to recover from an injury, or heal from a traumatic event. I am available to be a support for you and to talk about ways that you can make healthy changes in your life for these issues.
What is therapy? Can it help me?
Therapy is sitting and talking, and yes, I believe it can help you. You get out of therapy as much as you put into therapy. In attending therapy we will discuss what is going on for you, your goals for making change, various perspectives, and we will work to develop coping skills so that you may make healthy changes in your life.
Do the things we talk about stay confidential?
The things we discuss stay inside my office, with a few exceptions. If I have concerns about harm to you or other people, or hear about child or elder abuse, I am required to share that information. I may also share information if required by law, and when seeking professional supervision. Outside of these circumstances, I may only share your information as consented by you.
What types of issues do you work with?
I specialize in working with individuals who are coping with medical issues. I also work with mental health issues such as grief, anxiety, trauma, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, spiritual/existential issues, life transitions, and family or relationship problems.
Do you work with adolescents?
Yes, at this time I am accepting adolescent clients ages 16 and older. Please call with further questions.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. This provides you with an added layer of privacy, since insurance companies require a diagnosis and access to case notes. This also allows me as your therapist to focus on providing quality care to you.
I am able to provide you with a superbill if you would like to contact your insurance company directly. Some plans will provide out-of-network reimbursement. I can also accept HSA/FSA cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
You must cancel 24 hours in advance of your appointment to avoid incurring a fee. Appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours are required to pay a $50 fee.
How can I pay for my session?
I accept cash, check, or credit card payments. Payment is expected at the end of each appointment.
What hours are available?
Weekday hours are available, as well as evening hours Tuesday and Thursday. Please contact the office for further questions regarding hours.
